A New Yorker's Guide to Everything Oscar
I love that scene. I am still so thrilled Juliette Binoche upset that year, She was by far the most deserving. She should've been nominated Lead.-Zach
Juliette Binoche is amazing in The English Patient. She deserved her Oscar.
My mom loves that movie and bought it for me. I suppose that there's nothing I can REALLY complain about in that film, but rest assured, I'll think of something.Ralph Fiennes is one of my very favorite actors, though.
That video is too dark for me to make it out, but my favorite scene in the movie is when Kip takes Hana into the chapel and puts her in that rope and pulley system he has set up so that she can see the frescos with the candle. I wish I could see that scene on the big screen every day. In any case this is one movie to whch a DVD, even on a big screen TV just can't do justice. As much as I love Binoche (one of the biggest upsets in Academy history) my picks that year were either Marianne Jean-Baptiste or Joan Allen, although I can't complain for a minute about Binoche.
Maybe it's because I watched it on a laptop. I should try watching it again in a few months when I get my new television. I had a much, much better reaction to Lawrence of Arabia once I saw it on a big screen, and now it's one of my favorites.
Well, "The English Patient" is a good movie, but it is no "Lawrence of Arabia." Still, if you only saw EP on a laptop you have NOT seen it. This is a movie that really should be released into theaters every couple of years. Short of that, watch it on the biggest widescreen TV you can. And enjoy the Kip and Hana fresco scene.
